ANNOUNCEMENTS – WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2008 – “C” DAY

 

PROGRESS REPORTS:  Late progress reports must be given to Mr. Morris. Students who have not returned progress reports by Friday, February 29, will receive JUG each day until it is submitted to Mr. Morris.

 

ALL:  Super Smash Bros. N64:  Super Smash Bros Tournament for the Nintendo 64 will be held on Tuesday, March 11. Admission fee is $3 per person and 50% of the proceeds go to the winner’s homeroom. Sign up with Mrs. Annetta in H-303.

 

FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES, and JUNIORS:  Students who live in ESSEX FELLS, FAIRFIELD, FAIR LAWN, FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, FLORHAM PARK, FORT LEE, GARWOOD, GLEN RIDGE, KENILWORTH, LINDEN, LITTLE FALLS/WEST PATERSON, and LITTLE FERRY should pick up their forms for next year today in B220 any time after 2:30 but no later than 8:10 tomorrow morning. Failure to comply may result in your parents not being reimbursed next year.

 

ALL:  Last 7 days to win an IPOD.  The Computer Club is selling raffle tickets to win an IPOD NANO (with video) in black.  The drawing is on Wednesday, March 12.  $1 purchases 1 ticket, $2 purchases 3 tickets, and $5 gets you 7 tickets.  See Dan Tomassi, Les Constantine and/or Mrs. Glazer to purchase tickets.

 

FINANCIAL AID:  Financial Aid applications for the 2008-2009 school year are currently available in the Financial Aid Office and the Finance Office.  The deadline is March 17, 2008.  Anyone interested in applying along with all work study students must pick up an application as soon as possible.

 

SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR INNER-CITY CHILDREN:  The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC) applications for the 2008–2009 are currently available in the Financial Aid Office and the Finance Office.  The deadline is April 22, 2008.  Anyone interested in applying along with all work study students must pick up an application as soon as possible.

 

Wrestling:  All wrestlers report to the “Palace” at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday for team photo.  Bring your warm ups and singlets.

 

“STUMP THE SCHWAB”:  Attention sports fans!  Compete in the new Saint Peter’s Sports Trivia Contest to be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in H-301.  Participants pay $3 entry fee and sign up with Mr. Cunneen in H-301.  The deadline is extended.  Winner will claim all proceeds towards their homerooms total raised in the Mission Drive Competition.

 

BASEBALL CANDIDATES:  Permission forms are available in B-218.  Forms must be completed and returned before March 7.  Schedule for tryouts will be posted today outside of B-218.

 

History Club Cinema Oresents: Patton starring George C. Scott in one of the greatest WW2 movies will be held in H-301 from 3:00 to 5:45 p.m. today.

 

PREP UNPLUGGED:  MUSIC YOU WANT TO HEAR – The Student Council is presenting an “Unplugged” evening of music to fundraise for the mission drive on Friday, March 7 in the café from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.  Admission is $3.  Come hear student talent form Prep and St. Dom’s.

 

ROCK BAND:  Want to play Rock Band?  Homeroom 1G is sponsoring a Rock Band Tournament on Thursday for the Mission Drive in E-302.  The cost to enter is $2 per person and the winning band gets 35% of all proceeds.  Please note that each band must consist of four members from the same homeroom.  If this is not possible, accommodations will be made.  Drinks will also be served.  Please see freshmen, Robert Mullins, Dom Rotondo, Matthew Foley, or Mr. Koszyk in E-302.

 

LITERAMA:  The staff of the Literama is now accepting submissions for the summer edition.  The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, April 2.  If you wish to submit a work or have any questions, please see Mr. Muir in H-202 or junior, David Sambade.

 

Mission Drive:  Film Fest: Waste of Time Productions is coming to Prep. Remember the time Mr. Dandorph wrestled a loser leaves town match? Remember the time Mr. Dwyer was held hostage in the name of ending homework? Remember the time Mr. Lazorwitz couldn’t find the ketchup? Join us for these films and more on Friday in the library for the First Annual Waste of Time Productions Mission Drive Film Festival. I’ll be there. Will You?

 

Peer tutoring: Beginning today, student-to-student tutoring will take place before homeroom in the library. If you are struggling in any class, stop by and someone who has gone through the same problems guides you.

 

CELTIC CLUB FILM FESTIVAL:  Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a showing of The Wind that Shook the Barley, in E-204 today.

JESUIT IDOL:  Jesuit Idol auditions will be shown on Monday, March 10 during lunch periods 5A & 5B in the cafeteria.  Final round to follow at 3:00 p.m.

 

VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS:  Volleyball tryouts on Friday in the gym for returning varsity & JV members and new seniors and juniors.  Tryouts will be from 3:15-5:45 p.m.  For new sophomores and all freshmen tryouts will be from 4:30-7:00 p.m.

 

ENGINEERING CLUB:  Meeting of the Engineering Club today at 3:05 p.m. in H-302.

JV MATH TEAM:  Preparation for the final round of competition on Thursday, March 13 will take place this Thursday and Friday at lunch.  Materials will be distributed to team members in your HR.

 

Academic Bowl:  NJ State Tournament Saturday, March 8th at Rutgers Piscataway.  We will have practice every day through Friday.  The final selection of teams will be announced on Thursday. We can drive 6 students from Prep directly to the site.  Others will need to make other arrangements. Please pick up permission slip from Ms. Panzera in B313; it must be signed on returned by Friday. 

 

SOCCER:  Coach Jantas will meet with all returning players on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. in H-201.

 

Lacrosse:  All players are reminded to report to the field at 3:00 p.m. for conditioning.  This includes all interested freshmen and sophomores as well as returning players.

 

Sophomores: Anyone who signed up for a weekend service trip at the start of the year must come to H-302A to see Mr. Sekel on Friday after school.

Outreach: Meeting on Monday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel.

 

SENIORS:  The final prom payment is due by April 1.  See Mrs. Martineau with any questions.

 

JUNIORS:  Reminder:  This Friday is the last day for prom payments.  See Mrs. Martineau with any problems.

Colleagues:   2nd part of the doubleheader will be today for the SENIOR –FACULTY game at 3:00 p.m. in the gym.  $1 admission for the missions especially for Nairobi, Kenya.  Great show today, Tuesday, with the fencing. Thanks to Greg and all who participated.  Can John Irvine be champion again and lead the faculty to victory? Will Kellen “The Kid” Williams slam dunk over Will the Thrill? STAR WARS CLUB:  Join the Start Wars Club!  Battle Front II Tournament on Thursday, March 13 in E-205.  Entry fee is $5.  All proceeds go to winner’s homeroom mission total.  See seniors Casey Perno or Vincenzo Averello for more info.  We will meet in E-205.
