ANNOUNCEMENTS – FRIDAY, APRIL 18, 2008 – “B” DAY – ASSEMBLY ORDER

 

Outdoor Track:  Please report to Prep Gym at 7:30 Saturday morning for bus to meet at Secaucus H.S. The bus will depart at 7:45 without exception.

 

Academic Bowl:  Practices are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in B-313.  Upcoming events:  Wednesday, 4/23 – Knowledge Master Open:  computer-based competition - room to be announced.  Saturday, 5/17 – final competition of the year at Chatham HS.  Information available about Academic Bowl camp which runs 7/20 through 7/24 at Mt. St. Mary’s in Emmetsburg.  All the national championship teams attend these programs – let’s build the Prep programs! See Ms. Panzera.

 

JUG -- No senior can participate in the graduation ceremony if any JUGs are outstanding on May 30, 2008.  No underclassman can return to Prep next year if JUG is owed on June 3, 2008.  Gentlemen, please take care of your responsibilities. 

 

DRESS CODE -- We are still in full dress code.  When (or if) students move to spring dress code is dependent on how well full dress code is followed and upheld during the next weeks.

 

All: All those volunteering at Earth day this Saturday, please see Mr. Sekel today for directions.

 

CAMPUS SHOP:  Rep for Zolnier Rings will be in the café this Friday during lunch.  Any concerns about your ring please see them this Friday.  Thank you.

 

CELTIC CLUB:  Celtic Club t-shirts available for $10 in E-204.  Get the last ones.

 

SENIORS:  If you want to attend the prom and have not paid yet, the full amount ($200) is due by today.  After today, no new reservations will be accepted.

 

Juniors and Seniors: Any student interested in teaching English in Poland for the month of July should see Mr. Sekel ASAP

 

ALL: Volunteers are needed for the National Junior Disability Championship for the week of July 19-27.  Anyone interested should see Mr. Sekel ASAP

 

VIDEO GAMES & ANIME CLUBS:  The video games and anime club meetings are cancelled this week and next.

 

ALL:  All faculty, staff and students are invited to the chapel on Tuesday April 22nd for a premier showing of AMNESTY INTERNATIONALS documentary, Justice without Borders about the global movement seeking justice and accountability for the perpetrators of the most grave human rights abuses.

 

ALL SENIORS:  All seniors must see Mrs. Martineau ASAP to go over college decisions, etc.  If I do not have your COMPLETE info you will not receive your graduation invitations.

 

PETROC:  There will be a writing meeting next Tuesday, April 22, in the Mulry Computer Lab, M-208.  All writers with article assignments must attend.

 

HISTORY CLUB:  There will be a history club meeting on Monday at 3 p.m. in H-301.

 

MS. DURANTE’S:  Ms. Durante’s 2nd period group guidance class will meet today.  Her 3rd & 6th period classes will NOT meet.  You can see her on Monday with questions about your course selections.

 

BLOOD DRIVEWe are up to 52 volunteers.  Keep those consent forms coming!  Thank you.

 

PERCUSSION STUDENTS:  Remember lessons today with Mr. Gleich.

 

BAND MEMBERS:  Today at lunch is percussion sectional.

 

OPEN HOUSE:  Those helping at Sunday’s Open House should be here at 1:30 p.m. in Winter Dress Code.  Fr. Azzarto will celebrate Mass at 12:00 p.m.

 

ALL:  PLEASE, we need more tour guides for Sunday’s Open House.  Sign up in the principal’s office.

 

NBA PLAYOFFS BRACKET CHALLENGE:  Today is the absolute last day to sign up with Mr. Evans in his office (beyond the switchboard), junior, Swetal Pate, or freshman, Will Ryan.  Cost is $2; all money will be awarded to next year’s Walkathon (no seniors).  Brackets are now available on the FSC bulletin board outside Mr. Evans’ office.  All brackets must be completed and returned to the adjacent folder by3:30 p.m.

 

JUNIORS:  On Monday and Tuesday there will be a lottery for those juniors who wish to take US Law next year.  There are only 50 spots open.  Look for details Monday morning’s announcements.

 

Wednesday, April 23 is a triple deadline for (1) filing for honors and AP reconsideration; (2) filing a new application for an honors or AP; and (3) filing for changing a course without paying a $20 fee.

 

Course Reconsideration forms:  Students rejected for an honors or AP course can pick up a blue form in the main office.  Deadline for returning completed forms is Wednesday, April 23.

 

MR. GALANO’S 6TH PER STUDY HALL:  Will not meet.

 

MS. YOST’S CLASSES:    Will not meet.

 

MS. KNITTEL’S 7TH PER LATIN 2:  Will not meet.  Assignment: Text, page 144 – complete exercise 39.2.  Quiz Monday on indirect questions.

 

MR. MCCARTHY’S 7TH PER REL 4:  Will not meet.  Assignment:  Finish reading Carmody chapter on Muhammad. Quiz next week.

 

MR. COLLINS’ CONTEMP ISSUES:  Will not meet.  No assignment.

 

MS. GLAZER’S 7TH PER CLASS:  Will not meet.  Assignment previously given.

 

All:  There will be a welcome home thanksgiving Mass for Billy Bludgus who was an International volunteer for almost three years in Tanzania. Mass will be at Our Lady Star of the Sea on Sunday May 4 at 12 noon. Reception will follow. All are invited.

 

All: Please remember in your Prayers Rev. Anthony LaBau S.J., who died at age 94. Funeral mass is today at Fordham. Father LaBau was the grand Uncle of freshman matt.
