ANNOUNCEMENTS – TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2008 – “D” DAY

 

Academic Bowl:  Practices are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in B-313.  Upcoming events:  Wednesday, 4/23 – Knowledge Master Open:  computer-based competition - room to be announced.  Saturday, 5/17 – final competition of the year at Chatham HS.  Information available about Academic Bowl camp which runs 7/20 through 7/24 at Mt. St. Mary’s in Emmetsburg.  All the national championship teams attend these programs – let’s build the Prep programs! See Ms. Panzera.

 

JUG -- No senior can participate in the graduation ceremony if any JUGs are outstanding on May 30, 2008.  No underclassman can return to Prep next year if JUG is owed on June 3, 2008.  Gentlemen, please take care of your responsibilities. 

 

ALL:  All faculty, staff and students are invited to the chapel today for a premier showing of AMNESTY INTERNATIONALS documentary, Justice without Borders about the global movement seeking justice and accountability for the perpetrators of the most grave human rights abuses.

 

PETROC:  There will be a writing meeting today in the Mulry Computer Lab, M-208.  All writers with article assignments must attend.

 

All:  There will be a welcome home thanksgiving Mass for Billy Bludgus who was an International volunteer for almost three years in Tanzania. Mass will be at Our Lady Star of the Sea on Sunday, May 4 at 12 Noon. Reception will follow. All are invited.

 

INDO-PAK SOCIETY:  We will have a meeting today at 3:00 p.m. in H-201 to discuss our end-of-the-year festivities.

 

SOPHOMORES:  Group meets in Fr. Mullin’s office today at lunch.

 

ENGINEERING:  Engineering club meeting on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in M-302.

 

Juniors: Congratulations on Junior Prom. Some pictures are posted on the board on the lst floor. Duplicates should be in folder today or tomorrow. Please do NOT remove any pictures.  They will be available next week. Thank you.

 

STOCK MARKET CLUB:  The Stock Market Club for sophomores and freshmen will meet today at 3:00 p.m. in the Link Lab.

 

ALL:  The library is closed today due to the Blood Drive.

 

ALL: Congratulations to Michael Cortina '08 for winning 2nd Place on the Environmental Poster Contest Grades 9-12 in celebration of earth day.

 

ALL: Thanks to Michael Cortina '08, Michael Murcia '08, and Jon Mucciolo '08 for their great work at the Earth Day Celebration at Liberty State Park last Saturday. You represented PREP students and all of us very well.

 

SOCCER PLAYERS:  There will be a brief meeting with Coach Jantas on Wednesday at 2:50 p.m. in H-201.

 

All: Approximately 80 underclassmen still owe textbook forms.  If you haven’t returned one, see Mr. Peters in H-101 some time today.  Blank forms are available in the Main Office.  Signed forms can be drooped off in the Main Office as well.

 

ALL:  Sign ups for Ultimate Frisbee Club will take place in the courtyard at 3:00 p.m. today and Wednesday.  If you cannot make it, please see Mr. Lazorwitz or senior, Mark Zaleski.

 

SOPHOMORES:  Group meets today in Fr. Mullin’s office during period 5B.

 

Brass Students:  Remember lessons today with Mr. Ferrone.

 

All German Students: Due to the Blood Drive and library closure all students must enter through the Grand Street entrance to Mr. Grusenski's room.  Plan accordingly.

 

EMMAUS 239 JUNIORS: Will meet today during 5B in the Chapel for a brief, but very important, meeting.  Please see Mr. Heffernan with any problems.

 

EMMAUS 239: Will depart on Saturday morning.  Materials may be submitted at the switchboard.

 

LITURGICAL CHOIR: Will practice today after-school for the Ascension Thursday mass.  This is very important! Please attend if you want to perform!  See Mr. Heffernan with any problems.

 

MR. KOSZYK’S 7TH PER ENGLISH 2:  Will not meet.  You are responsible for the following ASSIGNMENT:  Write a summary of the article on pp. 309-310 and copy the summary onto your secondary source card; and HWRead chapters 25-27 of Huck Finn

 

JUNIORS:  Today is the wrap-up of the lottery for those juniors who requested US Law next year.  Juniors can stop by Mr. Reidy’s office starting 4th period today.

 

TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 23 is a triple deadline for (1) filing for honors and AP reconsideration; (2) filing a new application for an honors or AP; and (3) filing for changing a course without paying a $20 fee.
