ANNOUNCEMENTS - THURSDAY, MAY 1, 2008 – “C” DAY – ASCENSION THURSDAY, ASSEMBLY ORDER SCHEDULE

 

JUG -- No senior can participate in the graduation ceremony if any JUGs are outstanding on May 30, 2008.  No underclassman can return to Prep next year if JUG is owed on June 3, 2008.  Gentlemen, please take care of your responsibilities. 

 

All:  There will be a welcome home thanksgiving Mass for Billy Bludgus who was an International volunteer for almost three years in Tanzania. Mass will be at Our Lady Star of the Sea this Sunday at 12 Noon. Reception will follow. All are invited.

 

DANCE:  WOW!  This Friday we will have a dance from 6:45 – 9:45 p.m.  We will have a new DJ. Bring ID and $8.

 

ICE HOCKEY:  JV & Varsity Hockey pictures are in. Please see Coach Maione to pick up your pictures on Friday between 2:15-2:45 p.m. in the Athletic Office.

 

ALL:  Please read the Club photo schedule for yearbook.  All club pictures will be taken on the Grand Street steps of Mulry/Hogan.  In case of rain, report to Ms. Stark’s room, H-203.  Moderators are welcome to be in the pictures, but not mandatory.  If your club cannot make the specified time, as a group you can come to any of the other photo sessions.

 

FORENSICS:  The Forensic Team will meet today in H-201 at 3:00 p.m.

 

All:  Congratulations to the winners of the 2008 National Italian Examination Contest:  Both James Kuklinski ‘10 and Sebastian Garcia ‘09 received 3rd place in the nation in Levels I and II, respectively and they will each be awarded $100.00 from the American Association of Teachers of Italian.  The following students received “National Honorable Mention”: Gabriel Kitamura ’10 who placed 8th, James Murduca ‘09 who placed 7th, Louis DiPaola ’08 who placed 8th, in Levels I, II, and III respectively.  The Italian National Honor Society, Società Onoraria Italica has contributed $1,200 to award to 12 seniors who participated in the exam and our Louis DiPaola is one of the lucky recipients of the $100.00 scholarship.  Grazie to all students of Italian for your participation!

Computer Club Yearbook Picture:  The computer club yearbook picture will be taken on Friday morning at 8:05 a.m.

 

Stock Market Clubs Seniors, Juniors, Sophomore, and FRESHMEN:  Yearbook picture will be taken on Friday afternoon at 2:40 p.m.

 

Freshmen:  You're needed for Saturday, May 17th Academic Bowl at Chatham High School.  Special freshmen only division.  See Ms. Panzera in B313

 

ALL:  Win a Wii:  Academic Bowl team is raffling a Wii with sports package.  $5 for one chance and $10 for 3 chances. See Ms. Panzera in B313.

 

Academic Bowl:  Yearbook picture today on steps at 3:05 p.m. as described in yearbook notice.

 

Academic Bowl:  Practice for 5/17 competition in Chatham:  4/30, 5/1. 5/2.  Beginning on May 6th:  practices on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  New members welcome. See Ms. Panzera if you are interested in attending academic bowl camp this summer. 

 

ALL: History Club Cinema presents, “Letters from Iwo Jima”, by Clint Eastwood. Wednesday, May 7 3PM in H301

 

Jazz Band and Concert Band Members:  Please meet in the Band room at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning for a yearbook picture.

 

ALL:  Tickets for Footloose will be on sale from Friday, May 2 forward.  The price for the tickets is $7 for Prep students, $10 for everyone else.  Seats are reserved seats so get your tickets early.  Performances are May 9, 10, 16 & 17 at 8:00 p.m. at Saint Peter’s College.

 

Juniors going to New Orleans:  Payment for the New Orleans trip must be handed in to Mr. Sekel by Monday, May 5.

 

CONCERT AND JAZZ BAND:  All concert and jazz band members should report to the band room, Friday morning at 8:05 a.m. for group picture.  This includes FRESHMEN MEMBERS.

 

FR. O’BRIEN’S:  Fr. O’Brien’s 6th & 7th period classes will not meet today.  Complete assigned worksheet already given.

 

CAMPUS SHOP:  Remember Mother’s Day is next week, Mary 11th.  Great gifts for Mom – Prep Mom t-shirt, sweatshirts, mom mugs.

 

HAP TUTORS:  The list of HAP tutors for this summer is posted outside Mr. Irvine’s office and on the door to the Freshman for a Day room.

 

FRESHMEN:  Friday is the Outstanding Freshman Awards Ceremony.  It will be held in the church during homeroom and first period.  Please gather in the church for homeroom.

 

SENIOR NEWSPAPER PHOTOS:  Today:  All seniors from Berkeley Heights, Chatham, Caldwell, West Caldwell, Millburn, Maplewood, South Orange, West Orange, Cedar Grove, Summit, Montclair/UpperMontclair, and Verona.  Come to the library at the start of period 5A for group newspaper photos.  Friday:  Carlstadt, Dumont, East Orange, Englewood, Fairview, Harrison, Hasbrouck Heights, Kearny, Lyndhurst, Newark, North Arlington, Orange, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, and Secaucus.  If you are not present, you will not be in the photos.

 

GUITAR STUDENTS:  Remember lessons with Mr. Kapsalis will be tomorrow instead of today.

 

SOPHOMORES:  Sophomores in Fr. Hoag’s English class please remember there is a vocabulary quiz today.

 

CLC:  CLC meets on Friday at 7:30 a.m. in the chapel.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL:  All candidate application materials must be returned to H-201, Mr. Keating’s room, by Monday, May 5.

 

ALL:  Joy Food will meet today during 5B in the Shalloe Parlor. All are welcome.

 

Italian Club:  Due to a scheduling conflict, this afternoon's club meeting is rescheduled for Monday, May 5th.  Please remember, however, to be present for Yearbook Photo tomorrow morning, May 2nd on the steps of Mulry/Hogan. 

 

MS. MCNALLY’S 7TH PER ENGLISH 3:  Will not meet.  ASSIGNMENT:  Continue working on the poems, including Hollow Men, the questions following it, as well as the “Writing about Literature” section.  All is due tomorrow!
