ANNOUNCEMENTS – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2008 - “F” DAY

 

SENIORS:  Fairfield University will be here for interviews on November 13.  Spots are very limited.  See Mrs. Martineau if you would like an appointment by day’s end.

 

CELTIC CLUB:  The Celtic Club is looking for soccer players who wish to participate in Copa del Prep.  We are also collecting money for t-shirts.  The cost is $10.  Money and Copa del Prep sign-ups should see Ms. McElroy in E-204.

 

VEGETARIAN STUDENTS:  Any students who wish a vegetarian alternative at the Walkathon BBQ should sign up at the main office by today. 

 

Culinary Club:   The culinary club will be attending a culinary workshop on December 4th. If you are interested, please see Ms. Annetta or senior, Justin Guerra-Sarreal for more information. There are only a few spaces remaining.   The next culinary club meeting will be on Wednesday, October 22 at 3:00 pm in B-317. 

 

History Club MEETING:  We will meet on Monday at 3:00 pm in B-216.

 

Mandatory Model UN Mtg:  For all Horace Mann conference goers, Thursday Oct. 23, 3:00 pm in B-216.  Those who missed this weeks’ meeting MUST CHECK IN with Mr. Cunneen or you are NOT ALLOWED TO GO to Horace Mann!  (Alex Mosa, Gary McCann, John Ng & Rolf Mazo this means you).

 

Science Club--Science Fair:  Today at 3:00 pm in B-314, Dr. Robinson.   General meeting for all students who signed up or are interested in doing a Science Fair project. You need to have selected at least an area (bio, chem, physics, ecology, etc.) and a faculty mentor. Any interested faculty can come too.  We will talk about deadlines and registration requirements. We will attempt to answer any questions we can. Look on the internet for Science Fair links in your subject for lots of ideas and other stuff.

 

SOPHOMORES:  On Monday, 10/21, there will be a short meeting at 12:30 pm in the College Placement office on the 2nd floor of Mulry Hall.  Any sophomores interested in being Prep’s representative to the NJ HOBY (Hugh O’Brien Youth Conference) meeting in the spring, is invited to attend.

 

ALL:  There will be a meeting for all returning members of the Rugby Team in E-404 today at 2:45 pm.  Please be prompt.  There will be a meeting for new members only next week.  Stay tuned for further info.

 

ART CLUB:  There will be an art club meeting on Monday, October 20 at 3:00 pm in E-405 (art room).  Please direct any questions to Ms Klim or Mr. Smith.  Please attend this important meeting. 

 

NHS: Nomination forms for NHS officers and directions for filing them are available in the main office. Please note that the deadline is on Monday.  NHS elections will take place in B-313 at 3:05 pm on Monday, 10/20/2008.  If you are unable to attend, please see Ms. Panzera.  Details for induction ceremony on October 29 will be available on Tuesday. 

 

SOPHOMORES:  Must hand in permission slips for Reflection Night.  This is mandatory.  See Mr. Heffernan with questions.

 

ALL:  Please join the medical club and Marco Ambrosio ’03 as we get together in creating a chapter for face AIDS at Prep this Monday, 10/20 at 3:00 pm.

 

MEDICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB MEMBERS:  A brief meeting today after school in M-312 to inform you of next week’s events. 

 

ALL:  The Environmental Club invites all members of the Prep community to meet and learn from Ms. Dale Rosselet, Vice President of Education for the New Jersey Audubon Society on Wednesday, 10/22 at 3:00 pm.

 

TV Studio / VideoFX:  We meet today at 2:45 pm to confirm jobs/positions for the Walkathon.

 

FRENCH CLUB:  Meeting on Monday in E-301.  We will be screening a movie about the French Ceasefire during WWI.  Also, see Bill Foley and give him $5 for French Club t-shirts.  If you did not attend Thursday’s meeting, see Bill Foley if you still wish to play for the Copa del Prep.

 

All: Please remember in your prayers the grandfather of senior, Brendan Canale and graduate Alex. Grandfather died in Virginia and will be buried as a marine.

 

Sophomores:  Those in Fr. Azzarto’s group guidance from last year will meet during lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Anyone who was not able to make his own scheduled date is welcome next week. Bring lunch.

 

Freshman:  Baseball gathering.  Those to those who came on Wednesday our next meeting is next Wednesday, Oct 22 at 3:00 pm in B-220.  We will plan trip to Yogi Berra Museum and plan for contest for the BEST TRADES for next year….all freshmen are welcome.   

 

All Band Members:  Remember tomorrow's varsity game at 12:00 noon. We will meet at Prep at 10:30am and attendance is required.

 

DR. SCIBILIA’S SECOND PERIOD SEMINAR CLASS:  Please note that your class will meet today due to assembly schedule.  While in class, continue working on your independent assignment.

 

MR. BUROKAS’ STUDENTS:  Period 2 Latin II Honors will meet. Periods 4, 6, and 7 will not meet today. PERIOD 7:  Report to H-101 to pick up your textbook from Mr. Peters.  Failure to do so will incur the usual consequences.  ASSIGNMENT:  Latin II Honors:  Continue with translation of “The Kings of Rome” in textbook on page 126 and translate exercise C on pp. 135-136.  Latin I: Complete pp. 56-57, exercises A/B/C in binder textbook and translate reading “Europa” on p. 52 of binder textbook.

 

MS. KLIM’S SECOND PERIOD CLASS:  You will meet as usual.  All other sections will not meet.

 

RUGBYThere will be a meeting today at 2:45 in E-404 for all returning players.
