ANNOUNCEMENTS – TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2008 - “A” DAY

 

ALL:  There will be a Late Start Order on Wednesday, October 22 due to the Faculty Meeting.

 

ALL STUDENTS:  Please take note of the proper procedure when a teacher or proctor is not in class at the beginning of a period: after waiting quietly for five (5) minutes, one (1) student will report to the Principal’s Office while the rest of the class remains quietly in the hall outside of the classroom.  Any student leaving before instructions are received from the Principal’s Office can receive a class cut.  This information can be found on page 20 in the Student Handbook.

 

ALL STUDENTS--Students are reminded that failure to serve JUG on the prescribed day will result in a JUG CUT.  JUG CUT #1 results in an additional JUG.  JUG CUT #2 results in 3 additional JUGs.  JUG CUT #3 results in Disciplinary Probation and 3 additional JUGs.  Gentlemen, please take care of your responsibilities in a timely manner; failing to do so will obviously result in undesirable consequences.

 

ALL:  For the month of October – if you are free, please join us at 12 noon every Wednesday in the chapel to pray the rosary.

 

Culinary Club:   The culinary club will be attending a culinary workshop on December 4th. If you are interested, please see Ms. Annetta or senior, Justin Guerra-Sarreal for more information. There are only a few spaces remaining.   The next culinary club meeting will be on Wednesday at 3:00 pm in B-317. 

 

Mandatory Model UN Mtg:  For all Horace Mann conference goers on Thursday at 3:00 pm in B-216.  Those who missed last weeks’ meeting MUST CHECK IN with Mr. Cunneen or you are NOT ALLOWED TO GO to Horace Mann!  (Alex Mosa, Gary McCann, John Ng & Rolf Mazo this means you).

 

ALL:  The Environmental Club invites all members of the Prep community to meet and learn from Ms. Dale Rosselet, Vice President of Education for the New Jersey Audubon Society on Wednesday at 3:00 pm.

 

Sophomores:  Those in Fr. Azzarto’s group guidance from last year will meet during lunch today and Wednesday. Anyone who was not able to make his own scheduled date is welcome next week. Bring lunch.

 

Freshman:  Baseball gathering.  Those to those who came last Wednesday our next meeting is this Wednesday at 3:00 pm in B-220.  We will plan trip to Yogi Berra Museum and plan for contest for the BEST TRADES for next year.  All freshmen are welcome.   

 

ALL:  If you have any issues with your new ID card (e.g. wrong picture, wrong name, do not have one, etc.), please see Mr. Healy ASAP.

 

SPANISH CLUB:  All interested in playing for the Copa del Prep should attend a brief meeting on Wednesday at 3:00 pm in E-401, or should see senior, Dan Londono.

 

HISPANIC CLUB:  Movie in E-401 today from 2:45 – 4:30 pm.  2:35 – 2:45 pm Team for Copa del Prep.

 

ULTIMATE FRISBEE:  If you would like to sign up for Ultimate Frisbee on Walkathon Friday at 11:30 am at the south ½ of JFK sign up in H-201.

 

CRICKET!:  Would you like to see or try playing one of the most popular games in the world?  The Indo-Pak Society will be playing at 11:30 on Walkathon Friday at JFK.  Many thanks to Coach Hansen for the use of north ½ of the filed!  Sign up in H-201.  Walk the Walk!

 

Freshmen:  Baseball gathering.  We will meet on THURSDAY, not Wednesday, to talk about TRADE contest and Yogi Berra Museum on Nov. 7….3 p.m rm 220.  all invited

 

Italian Club:  Bocce anyone?  If you're interested in playing a game of bocce, please meet in E-306 at 3:00 pm today.  Also there will be a brief meeting on Wednesday at 3:00 pm in E-306 for students who plan to see "La Traviata" this Thursday evening at the Met.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL:  There will be a brief mandatory meeting of the Student Council every day until the Walkathon in H-201 at 7:45 am and 3:00 pm to get duty updates for Friday.

 

JUNIORS:  Class ring measurements will be taken this Thursday in the café at lunchtime.  This will be the only opportunity to be measured at Prep.  There is no charge to be measured so if there is any doubt about getting a ring, be sure to get measured and decide later.  Questions?  Please see Mr. Hollywood.

 

LITERAMA, PREP’S LITERARY MAGAZINE:  Literama is now accepting submissions for the winter edition.  Please submit to Ms. Knittel, Ms. Groark, or email to:  literama1@gmail.com

 

LITERAMA:  There will be a short meeting for all those interested in being on the editorial staff for the literary magazine on Wednesday, October 22 at 3:00 pm in e-303.  Please see Ms. Knittel if you cannot attend.

 

SENIORS ATTENDING KAIROS 3: A BRIEF but IMPORTANT meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Chapel.  Please attend!

 

SOPHOMORES:  Please return letters regarding the dinner for reflection night to the main office.

 

FILIPINO SOCIETY:  We will meet on Thursday at 3:00 pm in B-214.  Free food will be served.  All are welcome.

 

SPEECH AND DEBATE:  There is a speech and debate tournament on November 8 at Montville High School.  Those who would like to compete please begin practicing or see Mr. Grusenski in M-207.

 

REIFEN!:  Come catch the fever on Thursday after German Club in M-207.

 

GERMAN CLUB:  Speed training for Copa del Prep begins on Wednesday at 3:00 pm.  Club meeting on Thursday at 3:00 pm in M-207.

 

RUGBYThere will be a brief meeting of senior rugby players in E-404 today at 3:00 pm.  Please be prompt.

 

Guitar Students - Remember lessons today with Mr. Kapsalis.

All Band Members - Remember required full rehearsal after school today.

 

NHS:  Congratulations to the newly elected NHS officers for 2008-09:   President – Joe Livi; Vice-President – Lucas Netchert; Treasurer – Matt Mullman; Secretary – Dan Londono. The officers, along with Craig Styles, should see Ms. Panzera in B-313 by the 3:00 pm today.

 

NHS Induction Ceremony:  NHS dues are $15 and may be given to Ms. Panzera or the new treasurer, Matt Mullman. Dues cover the cost of certificates, and membership pins and cards, along with incidental expenses for service projects. Induction ceremony will be Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30 pm in Saint Peter’s Church with refreshments to follow in the cafeteria.  Practice for the ceremony will be on Monday, October 27th at 3:00 pm starting in the cafeteria. All inductees must attend unless excused before hand by Ms. Panzera. There is a sign- up sheet for all NHS inductees on the bulletin board in the Mulry lobby.  Please print clearly the way you wish your name to appear on the certificate (no nicknames please!) by 3:00 pm on Thursday. Parents, relatives and friends may be invited to the ceremony.  Please let Ms. Panzera know how many guests you are bringing so that we can properly plan for refreshments.    

 

WRESTLING:  Team meeting on Thursday in H-203 before lift.  All members are expected.  New members are welcome.
