ANNOUNCEMENTS – THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2008 – “B” DAY

 

ALL:  Mass is celebrated each morning at 7:30 am. 

 

Freshmen:  Frosh football team plays tonight at Caven vs. Don Bosco at 6:00 pm.  The bus leaves at 5:30 outside café. Do H.W, have a hot dog at 5:00 pm and cheer on the team for last game of the year.

 

Freshmen and Sophomores:    Group will meet this today during both lunch periods with Brian Robinson B-016 (basement).  Bring lunch. Snacks and drinks provided.

 

THANKS: To all who helped make KAIROS III a huge success.  Thanks, too, to all those who worked on last week's Sophomore Night.

 

KAIROS: Applications to lead KAIROS are available online at http://ministry.spprep.org/kairos.  They are due by 3 p.m. on FRIDAY! The first team meeting for Kairos IV is next week!  Apply today!

 

SWIMMING: Tryouts are Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at St. Peter's College.  Please see Coach Heffernan with questions.  All new and returning swimmers are expected to tryout.

 

Ice Hockey: Tryouts for JV and Varsity hockey will be held on Sunday, November 16 @ 6:45 p.m. @ Pershing Field. All players must be in full equipment and arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the start of the tryout. To participate in tryouts, all players must submit the Parent Permission Form, the NJSIAA Steroid Testing Policy Form and the Parent Transportation Release Form. These three forms can be accessed from the school's website on the Athletics page.

 

VARSITY JACKETS:  Anyone interested in purchasing a varsity jacket should come to the Campus Shop on Thursday, 11/20, during lunch.  A $125 deposit will be required at that time.  Please see Mr. Hollywood if you have any questions.

 

HISTORY CLUB CINEMA:  Das Boot, Part 2 today at 3:00 pm in B-216.  The story of a German submarine in WWI (in German and subtitles).

 

FILIPINO SOCIETY:  We will meet today at 3:00 pm in B-214.  All are welcome.

 

Academic Bowl:  Practices today and Friday starting at 3:05 in B-313.  Competition at Rutgers on Saturday.  Please pick up permission slip beginning at 6th period in the main office.  We can bring 2 teams on Saturday (rather than 1 as we were told earlier on) so all members are encourage to try for a place on a team for this meet.   

 

ALL:  Anyone interested in trying out for the freshman, JV, or Varsity Basketball teams must meet in the gym on Tuesday, 11/18, at 3:00 pm.

 

FRESHMEN: Money and permission slips for the DEVILS game on December 10 can be submitted until this Friday.  Come watch the Devils take on the Penguins.  Tickets are $35 and include transportation to the Prudential Center and a free Devils hat.  See Mr. Heffernan for a permission slip.

 

ALL STUDENTS:  Any student interested in joining the Prep fencing team this season should come to a meeting this Saturday at Cobra Fencing Club at 2:00 pm.  The club is located at 629 Grove Street, Jersey City.  If you have any questions, see Coach Evans in E-202.

 

ALL STUDENTS:  Sign up in the main office for a bus to Friday’s football game in Red Bank.  Bus leaves at 5:00 pm.  Tailgate starts in the courtyard after school.

 

FREHMAN STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS:  Any freshman interested in being a candidate for student council officer or representative must come to a brief meeting today at 3:00 pm in H-201, Mr. Keating’s room.  All candidates must complete an application form to be picked up at this meeting.

 

FRESHMEN:  Today come and support the freshman football team.  Do your homework after school, have a hot dog/pancakes at 5:00 pm in the café and leave at 5:30 pm for the game at Caven Point vs. Don Bosco.  The bus returns after the game.  Please sign in the office so we know whether to have 1 or 2 buses.  Thank you.

 

MODEL UN MTG: We will meet on Tuesday, 11/18, at 3:00 pm in b-216.  Sign up for a Mini-Model UN @ Saint Peter’s. New members welcome! Also sign up for spring Seton Hall Conference

 

Italian Club:  There will be a brief meeting today at 3:00 pm in E-306 for those who signed up to play Copa del Prep.  Attendance is mandatory or your name is removed from the roster.  We will also be discussing some upcoming events.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL:  Meeting on Friday morning a 7:45 am in Mr. Keating’s room, H-201.

 

LACROSSE:  Mandatory, but brief lacrosse meeting on Friday at 3:00 pm in the gym.  Thank you, Coach Fusari.

 

ALL:  Our thanks to all who came to and supported the lectures by Marco Ambrosio and Billy Bludgus last night. Marco is off to U. of San Francisco to give a talk and Billy to help with a retreat for juniors at Loyola. Special thanks to Mike Jiran and Chris Casazza for the set up.
