ANNOUNCEMENTS – THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2009 – “D” DAY

SOPHOMORE/FRESHMAN CHRISTMAS ’09 SEMI-FORMAL:  This year’s semi-formal will take place on Saturday evening, December 19^th from 8:00 – 11:30 pm in the Prep cafeteria.  Reservations may be made with Mr. Dondero in M-212.  The cost is $60 per couple.  Space is limited so you need to get your deposit of $30 to Mr. Dondero ASAP.  The price includes a hot buffet dinner, DJ, unlimited soda, and ice-cream bar.

PAX CHRISTI:  Pax Christi will meet today. (This should just be a reminder!)

CHRISTIAN SERVICE:  Interested in doing Christian Service at a New York Knicks Game? Come talk to Ms. Toomb in the Lounge.  All freshmen who are doing Christian Service this session are reminded to come to Ms. Toomb at 3:00 pm before they leave for service. You WILL meet on Friday, 11/13.

FRESHMEN:  CALLING ALL FRESHMEN. Last chance to sign up for CANSTRUCTION with the Hillside Community Food Bank. Earn 4 of your remaining 8 hours of Christian Service. Sunday, 11/15/09. Come to Ms. Toomb to sign up.

FRESHMEN:  Any freshmen interested in being a freshman candidate for student council this year should come to a meeting in H-201, Mr. Keating’s room today at 3:00 pm.

VARSITY JACKETS:  One time only!  Measurements will be taken in the cafeteria during the lunch hours today only.  A $175 deposit will be required before the order will be placed, but there is no cost for measurement.  See Mr. Hollywood if you have any questions.

LOCATION CHANGE FOR ICE HOCKEY TRYOUTS:  Tryouts for JV & Varsity hockey will be held on Sunday, November 15 @ Bayonne Ice Rink. The ice time is scheduled for 9:30 pm; please arrive at 8:30 pm.

ALL: All those interested in trying out for basketball must meet in the gym on Monday, November 16: freshmen at 3:00 pm and upperclassmen at 3:15 pm. 

MOCK TRIAL:  Any students interested in participating in mock trial competition please come to H-201 and see Mr. Keating.

Forensics Team:  Those competing this weekend need to pick up a permission slip from Mr. G before day’s end.

PERCUSSION STUDENTS:  This week lessons with Mr. Gleich will take place today during lunch.

Italian Exchange:  A brief meeting is scheduled today at 3:00 pm in E306.  Please be sure to attend.

Italian Club:  Student passes are on sale for Italian Neorealism Film Day for Saturday, November 21.  If you would like to attend the Walter Reade Theater, NYC,  for a full afternoon of Neorealism films such as Fellini's I Vitelloni and DeSica's Umberto D and enjoy a taste of authentic Italian food, please see Ms. Romano in E-306 ASAP.  

FENCING: Any student who wishes to be on the fencing team this year (including returning members) there will be a brief but mandatory organizational meeting in Coach Evans’s room (H-202) on Thursday, November 19^th at 3:00 PM

BREAKING BARRIERS:  We will meet today at 3:00 pm in B-215.

CLC:  Ms. Bleasdale’s group meeting today during period 5.

Medical Club:  See Ms. Flores is H-302 9th period or after for priority sign-up for the CPR/First-Aid class in December.

ALL: Anyone interested in going to Friday’s state playoff football game against Pope Paul VI may sign up for the bus in the main office.  The bus leaves at 4PM from Prep.

SWIM TEAM: Please e-mail Coach Heffernan (heffernanr@spprep.org) if you need directions to the pool at Saint Peter's College for Sunday's tryouts, which run from 4 to 6:30 p.m.  The pool is located in the Yanitelli Rec Center on campus.
